🗓️ Itinerary Overview
Day 1: Arusha – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut (2,514m)
Your trek begins at Momella Gate inside Arusha National Park. After registration, a park ranger accompanies you as you walk through forested paths with chances to spot giraffes, buffalo, colobus monkeys, and zebras. The trail gradually ascends to Miriakamba Hut where you enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut (3,570m)
Today’s hike is a steady climb through montane forest and open grasslands. You ascend via Elephant Ridge, offering impressive views of the Meru Crater and Ash Cone. Arrive at Saddle Hut in the early afternoon. After resting, take an optional acclimatization walk to Little Meru (3,820m) before dinner.
Day 3: Saddle Hut – Socialist Peak (4,566m) – Miriakamba Hut
Summit day begins at midnight. You climb steeply along the narrow crater rim, guided by headlamps, reaching Socialist Peak at sunrise. Enjoy unforgettable views of Kilimanjaro towering above the clouds. After photos and celebration, descend to Saddle Hut for brunch, then continue down to Miriakamba Hut for the night.
Day 4: Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Arusha
Enjoy a relaxed descent through Arusha National Park, with more chances to see wildlife on the way back to Momella Gate. Your driver meets you and transfers you back to Arusha, marking the end of your Mount Meru adventure.
